Collaboration and Merger

Building bridges that last

Groups can find many ways to work together, from sharing information to sharing staff.  In important but rare circumstances, it may even lead to sharing a home as two or more organizations become one.

Collaboration should never be an end in itself, but it should always be open for consideration.  There are always a thousand reasons why groups should work more closely together, but ego, culture, and resistance to change can stand in the way of an otherwise clear path.  We help groups explore the spectrum of collaboration and find the place that best serves their missions and the interests of their constituents.  We help ensure that the right team is in place and that the human resources policies and practices support the mission.

This work is among the most challenging we do.  It combines the ability to facilitate groups, solve basic problems, build agreement, and establish entirely new ways of looking at problems.  When organizations engage one another, we help them ignite the power of synergy, the spirit of consensus, the willingness to ask tough questions, and the openness to considering real change.
